Infrastruttura fisica e sociale

The project strategy at city level is based on the concept of ecotone. Just as in nature the latter is defined as the space that comes between two different ecosystems, acting as a filter and gradient between the two, so the investigated suburban can be regarded as a transitional space between two distinct ecosystems, the city and the country.

The aim is thus to make the study area that piece of connection between the city and the country by bringing out some typical elements: water, soil, vegetation and places of reuse, that is all those places (semi)abandoned that may have a new life. These devices appear to be the basic elements that allow to build two infrastructures on which the project develops, the longitudinal and the transversal.

La strategia progettuale a livello urbano si fonda sul concetto di ecotono. Così come in natura quest’ultimo è definito come quello spazio che si frappone tra due ecosistemi diversi, fungendo da gradiente e filtro tra i due, così anche il periurbano di indagine può essere considerato come uno spazio di transizione tra due ecosistemi distinti, la città e la campagna.

L’obiettivo è quindi quello di rendere l’area oggetto di studio quel tassello di collegamento tra la città e la campagna facendo emergere dal paesaggio alcuni elementi tipici: l’acqua, il suolo, la vegetazione e i luoghi del riuso, ovvero tutti quei luoghi (semi)abbandonati che possono avere una nuova vita. Tali dispositivi risultano essere gli elementi di base che permettono di costruire due infrastrutture su cui si sviluppa il progetto, quella longitudinale e quella trasversale.

The first has as a main element the channel that allows the development of agriculture as well as the physical mend of the area, which is associated with the shadow, the path and finally abandoned and underused spaces to be reactivated.

La prima ha come elemento principale il canale che permette lo sviluppo dell’agricoltura nonchè la ricucitura fisica dell’area, a cui si associa l’ombra, il percorso e infine gli spazi abbandonati e sottoutilizzati da riattivare.

The second, however, formed primarily by the cycle and pedestrian crossings, it allows the physical connection between the city and the country.

La seconda, invece, costituita in primo luogo dagli attraversamenti ciclo-pedonali che permette il collegamento fisico tra la città e la campagna.

Governance

The organization and management of the study area is provided by a semi-public consortium set up by the Municipality of Bologna. The main objective of the consortium is to protect and enhance the peri-urban agricultural areas through social cohesion among citizens and the promotion of a food network to be create offering food awareness as opposed to the uniformity of tastes caused by globalization. The peri-urban agricultural land that is developed in the vicinity of the city, may therefore be a valid option for the development of local food and likewise may contribute to the preservation of rural areas.

L’organizzazione e la gestione dell’area di studio è affidata ad un consorzio parapubblico istituito dal Comune di Bologna. L’obiettivo principale del consorzio è quello di tutelare e valorizzare gli spazi agricoli periurbani attraverso la coesione sociale tra i cittadini e la promozione di una rete agroalimentare che si intende costruire proponendo consapevolezza alimentare in opposizione all’uniformità dei gusti causata dalla globalizzazione. Il territorio agricolo periurbano che si sviluppa in prossimità della città,  può essere quindi una valida possibilità per lo sviluppo del cibo locale e allo stesso modo può contribuire alla salvaguardia del territorio rurale.
